Full Details

The Better Energy Homes scheme provides grants to homeowners who want to make their homes more energy efficient. As of early 2026, eligible works include: attic insulation (up to €2,000), cavity wall insulation (up to €1,800), external wall insulation, heat pump systems (up to €12,500 including central heating upgrades), solar PV, solar thermal, heating controls, and — from 2 March 2026 — replacement windows (up to €4,000) and doors (up to €1,600). Note: gas and oil boiler replacements are no longer funded under any SEAI scheme since January 2025. Works must be carried out by a registered SEAI contractor. Homeowners on qualifying DSP payments may access higher enhanced grant amounts.

Eligibility Requirements

Must own and occupy the home. For insulation and heating controls the property must have been built and occupied before 2011. For heat pumps and solar the cut-off is 2021.
