Full Details

SUSI provides two types of financial support:
• Fee component: contributes to tuition fees and/or the student contribution
• Maintenance component: contributes to living costs

Key 2026/27 details (verified May 2026 on susi.ie):
• Renewal applications opened 5 March 2026 — priority deadline 11 June 2026
• New applications opened 1 April 2026 — priority deadline 9 July 2026
• Postgraduate Fee Contribution grant increased by €500 to €4,500
• Income threshold for €500 Student Contribution grant raised to €120,000
• Special Rate of Maintenance income threshold raised to €28,600
• Holiday Earnings deduction increased to €8,830
• Disablement Benefit and Constant Attendance Allowance no longer included in reckonable income

Assessment is based on household income in the 2025 tax year. Apply as early as possible after the opening date — late applications still considered but priority processing applies to on-time applications.

Eligibility Requirements

Citizen of Ireland, UK, EU/EEA/Switzerland. Resident in Ireland or those countries for at least 3 of the last 5 years. Income below household income thresholds. Must be on an approved full-time course and progressing from previous studies.
