Full Details

The Housing Aid for Older People Grant helps older people living in poor conditions to have essential repairs carried out to their homes. Works covered include: structural repairs, re-roofing, repair/replacement of windows and doors, rewiring, central heating installation/repair, and other improvements to ensure the home is habitable. The grant is means-tested based on household income. NOTE (since 1 Jan 2025): The grant no longer covers NEW fossil fuel boilers. However, it can still cover: repairing an existing oil/gas boiler (by qualified contractor), replacing other parts of fossil fuel heating system, or installing electricity or biomass heating solutions. Applications are made through your local authority.
